Background:

The nucleosome is the basic subunit of chromatin and consists of 146 base pairs of DNA wrapped around an octamer of core histone (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4).

Human native nucleosomes purified from HeLa cell nuclei, digested with micrococcal nuclease, and purified by glycerol gradient and ion exchange chromatography.
